Information Engineering
The Information Engineering Division is broadly concerned with the generation, distribution, analysis and use of information in engineering systems.
As such it straddles the boundary between traditional Computer Science and Engineering Departments.
The Head of Division is
Professor Jan Maciejowski.
Its four main research laboratories are listed to the right.
The
Control Laboratory carries out research in the theory and practice of control engineering with
applications including automotive and aerospace control. Interdisciplinary research on engine control and emissions is carried out in the
I.C. Engines - Emissions, Measurement and Control research activity.
The
Machine Intelligence Laboratory leads research in the areas of speech recognition systems, computer vision and medical imaging whilst the
Signal Processing and Communications Laboratory is concerned with a wide range of signal and image processing projects in many different
application areas. The
Computational and Biological Learning Laboratory uses engineering approaches to understand the brain and to develop
artificial learning systems. Division F is the Information Engineering Division of the
Department of Engineering.
