Control Opportunities in Automotive Engine Management

Abstract. We will discuss the place of control, optimisation and feedback in automotive engine management systems with a view to engine efficiency and satisfactory performance.
This will include approaches based on extensive calibration and physical models, and will consider the problems of model uncertainty and mode switching.
